Bachelor of Science in Nursing

The Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing program is a four year, full-time, regular daytime undergraduate degree program. The School of Nursing is a fall-entry only program, with an application deadline of February 1 for enrollment the following semester.

Chaminade’s unique four-year nursing curriculum immerses students in nursing preparation from the first day, with nursing coursework in the first semester, as well as nursing-related content incorporated into general education course requirements. Experience with human-patient simulators builds knowledge, insight and confidence prior to working with patients. Community outreach projects, service-learning and supervised clinical experiences result in nursing professionals well-prepared to care for patients and to help ensure the health of Hawaii, the Pacific and beyond.

The baccalaureate degree program in nursing at Chaminade University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street, NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001, 202-887-6791.

Admission Requirements: Freshmen

The Advantages of Chaminade’s School of Nursing BSN Program
  • Unlike many programs, freshmen are accepted directly into the program as nursing majors in the first year of a 4-year program.
  • At Chaminade, you are provided with opportunities to immerse yourself in your major during all four years of study. These opportunities will help build knowledge, confidence and your professional resume.
  • Nursing-specific topics are incorporated into non-nursing coursework, enhancing your learning experience while you take a full four years of nursing courses.
  • You will be involved in service-learning and community outreach programs throughout the four years that directly apply to nursing.
  • Enrichment opportunities such as conference attendance in the health sciences areas will be available to you.

The greatest advantage of all to entering freshmen is that you will not have to apply again or compete for placement in order to finish your upper-division nursing coursework and clinical placement after being accepted to the School of Nursing at Chaminade University. Once you have entered the program, your progression is guaranteed as long as satisfactory academic progress is maintained.
